Hi, I'm Alessandra, a Tsugaru shamisen player based between London and Hertfordshire.

At age 14 I saw now teacher, Hibiki Ichikawa, perform at the Hertford Music Festival. I found this brand new, complex stringed instrument fascinating and immediately wanted to find out more. The shamisen is now my main focus but i also play various other instrumets in my compositions. My music has a focus on storytelling, combining shamisen music with my other influences.

In 2021 I started a collaboration with Nike as part of thier True To Your Crew campaign. In 2022 I released my debut single folled by my debut album in 2023 and in 2024 I toured Japan with shows in Tokyo and Kanazawa. I regualrly perform at events including music and food festivals, corporate events and at major london venues such as Kensington Olympia and the Southbank Centre. I have shared stages with notable artists such as Hibiki Ichikawa, Akari Mochizuki, Abeya, Hikari Shirafuji, Noriko Tadano, Mitsune, JERO11 and Yuzu Natsumi to name a few and I also perform as a member of legendery group Frank Chickens.
